This lovely footed compote in the Tassel & Crest pattern is one of the most difficult to find patterns of Nova Scotia glass. Standing on the ‘good luck foot & column’, it’s a beautiful decorative piece with its alternating palm trees and crest design.
This piece from the John & Helen Granville collection is a fabulous addition to any early pressed glass collection. A photograph of this piece may be found in the Treasury of Canadian Glass (1969) by Doris and Peter Unit, page 151, Plate 1. Some minor flea bites along lip.
Nova Scotia Glass was manufactured beginning in 1881, in Pictou County. Three companies were producing glass products during the 1890s. Their pressed glass tableware pieces became collectable in the 1960s.
