Own an iconic part of Lunenburg and Canadian maritime history with this beautiful brass Bluenose made by the famous Lunenburg Foundry.
The Lunenburg Foundry has been a part of the UNESCO town’s history since 1891 , when four men from Yarmouth founded the Lunenburg Iron Company at the edge of Lunenburg’s harbour.
Besides iconic wood stoves and smaller hardware goods for fisherman and homes, the Foundry has played an important part in the rich maritime history of Canada’s east coast.
The Bluenose, nicknamed the "Queen of the North Atlantic" was a fishing and racing gaff rigschooner built in 1921 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. A celebrated racing ship and fishing vessel, Bluenose under the command of Angus Walters, became a provincial icon for Nova Scotia and an important Canadian symbol in the 1930s, serving as a working vessel until she was wrecked in 1946.
Beautiful on display as part of a curated shelf, as a bookend or ornamental object to enhance your maritime decor.
