Established Canadian artist/printmaker David B. Gillespie whose handmade, original works reflect the artistic expression he refined while living in Nova Scotia. A sense of keen observation, humour and a love of the natural environment influences his vision for imagery.

As one of a relatively small number of artists who uses serigraph, or silkscreen process to create original handmade editions, David's serigraph prints are produced through a meticulous technical and creative process in which areas are blocked out on a fine-meshed nylon screen to create a stencil. Ink is then hand pulled on the screen with a squeegee to create a printed colour.

Each colour to be printed requires a stencil and David may use up to 30 stencils to complete an image. The stencils are destroyed as the print evolves thus ensuring a limited edition. There is no master image used in the process as the artist works directly on the screen as the print evolves. David uses only 100% acid-free rag paper for his editions.
