The Garcons Artist Residency.

We are launching a queer artist residency - COMING 2025

GARCONS Queer artist residency

The Garcons Artist Residency (GAR) is supported by Nicolas Jean & Istvan Molnar-Szakacs. Garcons is a queer family-owned historic home and barn located in coastal Mi’kma’ki, made available to  artists identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, intersex, two-spirit or queer, to restore & be inspired to produce work that supports queer causes.

The 10-day residencies are open to 2SLGBTQIA+ artists from all backgrounds and at any stage of their career.  The 2024 residency is suitable for visual artists.

Our historic home and barn are set on nearly 2 acres of pastoral land along the shores of Rose Bay, that include a restored cape house and barn. The barn includes an indoor workspace and could also host an exhibition. Artists stay upstairs in the barn, a private loft living space with bathroom and kitchenette.

The barn is a 3-season building and there is no means of heating the space.
